How to disassemble spherical roller bearings

The disassembly of spherical roller bearings can be carried out by the following methods:

Percussion method. Apply percussion force to the inner ring of the bearing, use a copper rod or other soft metal material smaller than the inner diameter of the bearing to resist the shaft end, add a pad to the lower part of the bearing, and tap gently with a hand hammer to remove it. This method is simple and easy, but it can easily damage the bearing.
Pull out method. Use special pullers for disassembly. When disassembling the outer ring of the bearing, the angles of the two legs of the puller should be opened outward; when disassembling the inner ring of the bearing, the two legs of the puller should be inward and stuck on the end face of the inner ring of the bearing. When disassembling, just rotate the handle and the bearing will be slowly pulled out.
Push method. Use a press to push the bearings. This method works smoothly and reliably without damaging the machine and bearings. The press can be a hand push, mechanical or hydraulic press. When disassembling, the focus point of the press should be placed on the center of the shaft to avoid pressure deviation.
Thermal disassembly method. Suitable for disassembling tight-fitting bearings. First heat the engine oil to about 100°C, and then pour it on the bearing to be disassembled. After the bearing ring expands due to heat, you can use a puller to pull it out.

When implementing these methods, some things need to be paid attention to, such as ensuring that the working environment is clean, checking the status of the bearing and its surrounding components, confirming that there is no damage or abnormality, using appropriate tools and methods for disassembly, and avoiding using heavy objects such as hammers directly Knock the bearings to avoid damage. In addition, the bearings should be cleaned and inspected after disassembly to completely remove dirt and grease, and check whether components such as raceways, balls, and cages are intact.
